Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 1.47%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials , Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI added 1.47% to hit a new 6-months high.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were Galp Energia Nom (ELI: GALP ), which rose 6.83% or 1.02 points to trade at 15.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI: BCP ) added 2.61% or 0.01 points to end at 0.57 and EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI: EDP ) was up 1.40% or 0.04 points to 3.18 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI: MOTA ), which fell 2.06% or 0.06 points to trade at 2.95 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI: CTT ) declined 1.00% or 0.07 points to end at 6.96 and Ibersol SGPS (ELI: IBS ) was down 0.94% or 0.08 points to 8.46.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 13 to 12 and 7 ended unchanged.

Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI: BCP ) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.61% or 0.01 to 0.57.

Brent oil for May delivery was down 2.56% or 1.90 to $72.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.60% or 1.84 to hit $68.86 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.90% or 56.21 to trade at $2,906.99 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 106.42.
