Spain stocks higher at close of trade; IBEX 35 up 1.67%

Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate , Building & Construction and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 1.67% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ArcelorMittal SA (BME: MTS ), which rose 5.05% or 1.34 points to trade at 27.87 at the close. Meanwhile, Cellnex Telecom SA (BME: CLNX ) added 3.29% or 1.08 points to end at 33.92 and Banco Santander (BME: SAN ) was up 3.09% or 0.19 points to 6.23 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Indra A (BME: IDR ), which fell 1.82% or 0.35 points to trade at 18.86 at the close. Laboratorios Farmaceuticos ROVI (BME: ROVI ) declined 0.63% or 0.35 points to end at 54.80 and Aena SME SA (BME: AENA ) was down 0.46% or 1.00 points to 215.20.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 130 to 62 and 20 ended unchanged.

Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (BME: MTS ) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.05% or 1.34 to 27.87. Shares in Banco Santander (BME: SAN ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.09% or 0.19 to 6.23.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.32% or 9.41 to $2,928.21 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $68.83 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.22 to trade at $72.28 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 106.18.
