U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.02%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications , Household Goods & Home Construction and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.02%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON: BT ), which rose 5.15% or 7.85 points to trade at 160.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Vodafone Group PLC (LON: VOD ) added 4.17% or 2.90 points to end at 72.50 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON: TW ) was up 3.49% or 3.85 points to 114.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Melrose Industries PLC (LON: MRON ), which fell 12.15% or 67.60 points to trade at 488.80 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON: FLTRF ) declined 6.52% or 1,315.00 points to end at 18,855.00 and Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON: SWR ) was down 4.95% or 184.00 points to 3,531.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 900 to 845 and 634 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.15% or 4.49 to $2,922.11 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.21% or 0.80 to hit $67.16 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.34% or 0.93 to trade at $70.39 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 1.29, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.38% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 103.69.
