Belgium stocks lower at close of trade; BEL 20 down 0.50%

Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.50%.

The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans & Van Haaren NV (EBR: ACKB ), which rose 0.99% or 2.00 points to trade at 204.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Groep Brussel Lambert NV (EBR: GBLB ) added 0.71% or 0.50 points to end at 70.80 and Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR: AZE ) was up 0.67% or 0.11 points to 16.55 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Solvay SA (EBR: SOLB ), which fell 2.95% or 0.98 points to trade at 32.26 at the close. Sofina (EBR: SOF ) declined 2.71% or 6.60 points to end at 236.60 and Cofinimmo SA (EBR: COFB ) was down 2.39% or 1.45 points to 59.30.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 63 to 32 and 12 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.68% or 21.49 to $3,167.49 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $71.45 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.19% or 0.14 to trade at $74.63 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.45% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 103.43.
