Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.03%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumption , Real Estate and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.03%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ), which rose 15.84% or 0.48 points to trade at 3.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF: MGLU3 ) added 7.08% or 0.74 points to end at 11.19 and Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF: VAMO3 ) was up 7.00% or 0.31 points to 4.74 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF: CSNA3 ), which fell 5.17% or 0.49 points to trade at 8.99 at the close. Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF: COGN3 ) declined 3.24% or 0.07 points to end at 2.09 and Brava Energia SA (BVMF: BRAV3 ) was down 2.78% or 0.65 points to 22.69.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 505 to 402 and 71 ended unchanged.

Shares in Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 15.84% or 0.48 to 3.51.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.91% to 28.63.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.37% or 43.06 to $3,189.06 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.44% or 0.31 to hit $70.89 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.50% or 1.95 to trade at $387.10 .

USD/BRL was up 0.29% to 5.70, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.06% to 6.17.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 103.45.
