Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 4.87%
Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 4.87% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ELEKTRA ), which rose 0.45% or 1.59 points to trade at 351.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (BMV: KIMBERA ) added 0.27% or 0.09 points to end at 33.16 and Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (BMV: BOLSAA ) was down 1.36% or 0.51 points to 37.11 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ), which fell 14.75% or 59.49 points to trade at 343.74 at the close. GCC SAB de CV (BMV: GCC ) declined 10.48% or 20.42 points to end at 174.45 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV: GFINBURO ) was down 8.25% or 4.04 points to 44.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 219 to 42 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 2.08% or 64.95 to $3,056.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 6.89% or 4.61 to hit $62.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 5.93% or 4.16 to trade at $65.98 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 2.52% to 20.42, while EUR/MXN rose 1.71% to 22.39.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.83% at 102.64.
