Brazil stocks lower at close of trade; Bovespa down 1.32%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Financials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.32%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CPFL Energia SA (BVMF: CPFE3 ), which rose 3.39% or 1.27 points to trade at 38.70 at the close. Meanwhile, LWSA SA (BVMF: LWSA3 ) added 2.67% or 0.07 points to end at 2.69 and Caixa Seguridade Participacoes SA (BVMF: CXSE3 ) was up 2.58% or 0.38 points to 15.13 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF: MGLU3 ), which fell 13.41% or 1.36 points to trade at 8.78 at the close. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (BVMF: CSAN3 ) declined 5.99% or 0.42 points to end at 6.59 and Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (BVMF: CSNA3 ) was down 5.70% or 0.47 points to 7.77.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 590 to 387 and 50 ended unchanged.

Shares in Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (BVMF: CSAN3 ) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.99% or 0.42 to 6.59.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.91% to 28.63.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.73% or 21.79 to $2,995.39 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.74% or 2.27 to hit $58.43 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.87% or 3.00 to trade at $341.80 .

USD/BRL was up 1.70% to 6.01, while EUR/BRL rose 2.79% to 6.58.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 102.83.
