Taiwan stocks lower at close of trade; Taiwan Weighted down 4.02%
Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 4.02% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were AV Tech Corp (TW: 8072 ), which rose 9.91% or 2.85 points to trade at 31.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Wha Yu Industrial Co Ltd (TW: 3419 ) added 8.96% or 1.25 points to end at 15.20 and President Chain Store Corp (TW: 2912 ) was up 7.63% or 18.00 points to 254.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW: 1435 ), which fell 15.66% or 5.85 points to trade at 31.50 at the close. Compeq Manufacturing Co Ltd (TW: 2313 ) declined 10.00% or 5.45 points to end at 49.05 and Makalot Industrial Co Ltd (TW: 1477 ) was down 10.00% or 28.50 points to 256.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.
Shares in Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW: 1435 ) fell to 52-week lows; losing 15.66% or 5.85 to 31.50. Shares in Compeq Manufacturing Co Ltd (TW: 2313 ) fell to 52-week lows; falling 10.00% or 5.45 to 49.05. Shares in Makalot Industrial Co Ltd (TW: 1477 ) fell to 52-week lows; down 10.00% or 28.50 to 256.50.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.56% or 0.35 to $62.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.70% or 0.46 to hit $65.02 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.99% or 61.31 to trade at $3,140.71 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.75% to 32.85, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.74% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 102.38.
