Thoma Bravo near deal for Boeing’s Jeppesen unit- Bloomberg
Investing.com-- Thoma Bravo is close to a deal for Boeing’s Jeppesen navigation unit with a deal potentially due this week, Bloomberg reported on Monday, citing people with knowledge of the matter.
Earlier reports said Boeing (NYSE: BA ) could sell the navigation business for $8 to $9 billion.
Boeing has been fielding suitors for Jeppesen since early-2025, with the sale being part of the company’s strategy to divest all non-core assets and turn focus squarely towards its planemaking operations.
In February, British Airways bought Boeing’s maintenance operation at Gatwick Airport, near London.
Jeppesen manufactures navigation products and software. The unit is seen as an attractive business, given its ability to generate steady cash flow, and has drawn interest from several major buyout firms.
Other major companies seen bidding for Jeppesen include private equity majors such as Vista Equity, Warburg Pincus, Advent International, TPG, and Permira.
Boeing is separately in the process of selling off its drone business Insitu. The company is grappling with increased headwinds from a brewing U.S.-China trade war, which stands to block its sales to Chinese companies.
This comes after Boeing was hit with its worst strike in over a decade in 2024, which disrupted production and ramped up expenses. The company is also dealing with heightened regulatory scrutiny following a series of high-profile crashes and malfunctions in the past decade.
