Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.90%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.90% to hit a new 6-months high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV: GFNORTEO ), which rose 4.96% or 7.47 points to trade at 158.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ALFAA ) added 4.40% or 0.54 points to end at 12.80 and Wal Mart de Mexico SAB de CV (BMV: WALMEX ) was up 4.31% or 2.62 points to 63.41 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ALSEA ), which fell 3.09% or 1.31 points to trade at 41.08 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ) declined 2.56% or 11.17 points to end at 425.59 and Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ELEKTRA ) was down 1.81% or 6.30 points to 342.03.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 164 to 63 and 8 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.97% or 33.30 to $3,392.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.81% or 1.13 to hit $63.54 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.26% or 1.50 to trade at $67.76 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.11% to 19.62, while EUR/MXN fell 0.22% to 22.34.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.71% at 98.75.
