France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 2.13%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology , Industrials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 2.13%, while the SBF 120 index gained 2.05%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA: EUFI ), which rose 12.02% or 5.93 points to trade at 55.28 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA: STMPA ) added 5.95% or 1.08 points to end at 19.23 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) was up 5.34% or 1.29 points to 25.47 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Thales (EPA: TCFP ), which fell 0.83% or 2.10 points to trade at 250.80 at the close. Orange SA (EPA: ORAN ) declined 0.71% or 0.09 points to end at 12.66 and Engie SA (EPA: ENGIE ) was down 0.66% or 0.13 points to 18.77.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA: EUFI ) which rose 12.02% to 55.28, Opmobility SE (EPA: OPM ) which was up 8.45% to settle at 9.44 and Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA: UBIP ) which gained 6.26% to close at 10.20.

The worst performers were SES (EPA: SESFd ) which was down 7.96% to 4.55 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications SA (EPA: ETL ) which lost 3.22% to settle at 3.61 and Metropole Television SA (EPA: MMTP ) which was down 1.43% to 13.76 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 331 to 151 and 81 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 3.55% or 121.40 to $3,298.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.72% or 1.73 to hit $61.94 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.46% or 1.66 to trade at $65.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.72% at 99.40.
