Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts , Aerospace & Defense and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.07%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Melrose Industries PLC (LON: MRON ), which rose 3.77% or 15.60 points to trade at 429.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Entain PLC (LON: ENT ) added 3.37% or 19.20 points to end at 588.20 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON: RR ) was up 2.73% or 20.04 points to 755.24 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Unilever PLC (LON: ULVR ), which fell 2.21% or 106.00 points to trade at 4,685.00 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON: MKS ) declined 2.15% or 8.50 points to end at 386.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON: FRES ) was down 2.14% or 21.50 points to 982.50.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1126 to 638 and 601 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.64% or 55.01 to $3,293.59 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.19% or 0.12 to hit $62.91 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.14 to trade at $66.69 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 99.24.
