Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.46%
Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.46% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (BMV: CEMEXCPO ), which rose 3.86% or 0.45 points to trade at 12.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (BMV: KIMBERA ) added 2.94% or 1.00 points to end at 35.01 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV: GFNORTEO ) was up 2.59% or 4.24 points to 167.99 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ), which fell 13.45% or 1.24 points to trade at 7.98 at the close. Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV: ORBIA ) declined 3.42% or 0.52 points to end at 14.70 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ) was down 3.42% or 14.47 points to 408.18.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 115 to 100 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ) fell to 5-year lows; down 13.45% or 1.24 to 7.98.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.71% or 56.45 to $3,354.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.78% or 1.12 to hit $61.90 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.93% or 1.27 to trade at $64.53 a barrel.
USD/MXN was unchanged 0.02% to 19.58, while EUR/MXN rose 0.02% to 22.37.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 98.68.
