Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.21%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials , Electric Power and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.21% to hit a new 6-months high.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Automob Participações SA (BVMF: AMOB3 ), which rose 8.33% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Lojas Renner SA (BVMF: LREN3 ) added 3.32% or 0.46 points to end at 14.30 and YDUQS Participacoes SA (BVMF: YDUQ3 ) was up 3.11% or 0.44 points to 14.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF: IRBR3 ), which fell 5.37% or 2.58 points to trade at 45.50 at the close. Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF: BEEF3 ) declined 4.47% or 0.35 points to end at 7.48 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF: MRFG3 ) was down 4.03% or 0.92 points to 21.93.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 467 to 466 and 66 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.76% to 33.47.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.88% or 61.99 to $3,360.39 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.82% or 1.15 to hit $61.87 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 2.54% or 10.15 to trade at $410.00 .

USD/BRL was down 0.53% to 5.65, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.02% to 6.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 98.68.
