Spain stocks higher at close of trade; IBEX 35 up 0.50%

Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate , Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.50% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Corporacion Acciona Energias Renovables SA (BME: ANE ), which rose 2.70% or 0.43 points to trade at 16.37 at the close. Meanwhile, SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME: SLRS ) added 2.61% or 0.17 points to end at 6.53 and Unicaja Banco SA (BME: UNI ) was up 2.29% or 0.04 points to 1.74 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (BME: MTS ), which fell 0.59% or 0.16 points to trade at 26.91 at the close. Puig Brands SA (BME: PUIGb ) declined 0.53% or 0.09 points to end at 16.90 and Telefonica (BME: TEF ) was down 0.51% or 0.02 points to 4.47.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 135 to 55 and 18 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 2.26% or 73.39 to $3,316.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.06% or 1.20 to hit $57.09 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.79% or 1.10 to trade at $60.19 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 99.75.
