Belgium stocks higher at close of trade; BEL 20 up 0.53%

Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods , Utilities and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.53% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Cofinimmo SA (EBR: COFB ), which rose 2.06% or 1.60 points to trade at 79.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (EBR: ELI ) added 1.99% or 1.85 points to end at 95.05 and Aedifica (EBR: AOO ) was up 1.82% or 1.25 points to 69.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ), which fell 1.65% or 0.40 points to trade at 23.90 at the close. Melexis NV (EBR: MLXS ) declined 1.64% or 0.90 points to end at 54.05 and Umicore SA (EBR: UMI ) was down 0.61% or 0.05 points to 8.15.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 53 to 39 and 11 ended unchanged.

Shares in Cofinimmo SA (EBR: COFB ) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.06% or 1.60 to 79.45.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 2.20% or 71.31 to $3,314.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.18% or 1.27 to hit $57.02 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.91% or 1.17 to trade at $60.12 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 99.75.
