Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.04%

Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate , Banking and Textile sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.04%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO: 5801 ), which rose 7.22% or 384.00 points to trade at 5,699.00 at the close. Meanwhile, SMC Corp (TYO: 6273 ) added 5.70% or 2,980.00 points to end at 55,290.00 and Fujikura Ltd. (TYO: 5803 ) was up 5.66% or 328.00 points to 6,122.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (TYO: 3086 ), which fell 3.99% or 87.00 points to trade at 2,095.50 at the close. Kyowa Kirin Co Ltd (TYO: 4151 ) declined 3.42% or 77.00 points to end at 2,177.50 and Toray Industries, Inc. (TYO: 3402 ) was down 3.40% or 34.00 points to 965.30.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2368 to 1271 and 224 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.75% to 24.03.

Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.03% or 0.02 to $62.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $65.53 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.62% or 20.09 to trade at $3,213.41 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.30% to 144.40, while EUR/JPY fell 0.12% to 162.60.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 100.07.
