Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.93%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking , Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.93% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Optima bank SA (AT: OPTIMAr ), which rose 5.65% or 0.96 points to trade at 17.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Orilina Properties AEEAP (AT: ORILINAr ) added 4.87% or 0.04 points to end at 0.82 and Alpha Bank SA (AT: ACBr ) was up 3.96% or 0.10 points to 2.68 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Austriacard Holdings AG (AT: ACAGr ), which fell 6.95% or 0.42 points to trade at 5.62 at the close. Aegean Airlines (AT: AGNr ) declined 4.92% or 0.64 points to end at 12.36 and Ellaktor SA (AT: HELr ) was down 2.73% or 0.04 points to 1.28.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 70 to 63 and 13 ended unchanged.

Shares in Optima bank SA (AT: OPTIMAr ) rose to all time highs; rising 5.65% or 0.96 to 17.96. Shares in Alpha Bank SA (AT: ACBr ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.96% or 0.10 to 2.68.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.61% or 51.95 to $3,285.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.51% or 0.32 to hit $61.82 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.56% or 0.37 to trade at $65.17 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 100.03.
