Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.45%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking , Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 0.45% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Athens International Airport SA (AT: AIAr ), which rose 3.11% or 0.30 points to trade at 9.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Gr Sarantis SA (AT: SRSr ) added 2.19% or 0.30 points to end at 14.00 and Ellaktor SA (AT: HELr ) was up 2.18% or 0.03 points to 1.31 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Public Power (AT: DEHr ), which fell 3.34% or 0.46 points to trade at 13.31 at the close. Crete Plastics SA (AT: PLAKR ) declined 2.68% or 0.40 points to end at 14.50 and Avax SA (AT: AVAr ) was down 1.22% or 0.03 points to 2.03.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 80 to 41 and 19 ended unchanged.

Shares in Athens International Airport SA (AT: AIAr ) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.11% or 0.30 to 9.96. Shares in Gr Sarantis SA (AT: SRSr ) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.19% or 0.30 to 14.00.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.72% or 23.80 to $3,308.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $62.08 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $65.41 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.50% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 99.39.
