India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.52%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Capital Goods , Real Estate and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.52%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.51%.

The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE: BAJE ), which rose 5.02% or 18.25 points to trade at 382.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NSE: TISC ) added 1.95% or 3.09 points to end at 161.78 and Cipla Ltd. (NSE: CIPL ) was up 1.83% or 26.60 points to 1,481.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NSE: INBK ), which fell 1.98% or 15.45 points to trade at 766.80 at the close. JSW Steel Ltd (NSE: JSTL ) declined 1.07% or 10.80 points to end at 1,001.90 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NSE: KTKM ) was down 0.87% or 18.10 points to 2,072.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO: BJFS ) which rose 2.02% to 2,042.65, Tata Steel Ltd (BO: TISC ) which was up 1.86% to settle at 161.60 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO: SUN ) which gained 1.57% to close at 1,734.15.

The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO: INBK ) which was down 1.87% to 767.40 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO: KTKM ) which lost 0.77% to settle at 2,072.80 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO: PGRD ) which was down 0.65% to 296.05 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1360 to 999 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2173 rose and 1640 declined, while 135 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bharat Electronics Ltd (NSE: BAJE ) rose to all time highs; rising 5.02% or 18.25 to 382.05.

The India VIX , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.73% to 17.51.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.06% or 34.94 to $3,319.54 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.98% or 0.61 to hit $62.64 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.58 to trade at $65.96 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.04% to 85.50, while EUR/INR rose 0.66% to 97.17.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 99.30.
