Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.44%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.44% to hit a new 52-week high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ), which rose 3.32% or 13.57 points to trade at 422.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Coca-Cola Femsa SAB de CV (BMV: KOFUBL ) added 2.91% or 5.24 points to end at 185.00 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (BMV: ASURB ) was up 1.76% or 11.53 points to 668.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: MEGACPO ), which fell 5.78% or 3.11 points to trade at 50.68 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (BMV: GENTERA ) declined 1.95% or 0.76 points to end at 38.15 and GCC SAB de CV (BMV: GCC ) was down 1.58% or 2.83 points to 176.53.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 140 to 93 and 22 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.98% or 32.15 to $3,316.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.10% or 0.68 to hit $61.35 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.96% or 0.63 to trade at $64.75 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.15% to 19.38, while EUR/MXN rose 0.15% to 21.96.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 99.48.
