Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.15%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 1.15%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ELEKTRA ), which rose 1.64% or 5.98 points to trade at 369.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Regional SAB de CV (BMV: RA ) added 0.70% or 1.07 points to end at 152.86 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: GCARSOA1 ) was up 0.69% or 0.86 points to 125.24 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV: Q ), which fell 5.62% or 12.35 points to trade at 207.31 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ) declined 5.11% or 21.70 points to end at 402.99 and Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: MEGACPO ) was down 3.10% or 1.58 points to 49.39.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 155 to 70 and 14 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.56% or 18.50 to $3,295.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.25% or 0.77 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.29% or 0.84 to trade at $64.07 a barrel.

USD/MXN was unchanged 0.02% to 19.31, while EUR/MXN rose 0.03% to 21.79.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.40% at 99.84.
