Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.89%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.89%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ), which rose 3.00% or 0.25 points to trade at 8.57 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV: Q ) added 2.92% or 6.04 points to end at 212.72 and Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: AC ) was up 2.85% or 5.88 points to 212.49 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: MEGACPO ), which fell 3.45% or 1.70 points to trade at 47.61 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (BMV: OMAB ) declined 2.97% or 7.18 points to end at 234.18 and Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV: TLEVISACPO ) was down 1.87% or 0.15 points to 7.87.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 136 to 87 and 14 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.89% or 62.20 to $3,357.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.92% or 0.56 to hit $61.76 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.57 to trade at $65.01 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.37% to 19.24, while EUR/MXN rose 0.40% to 21.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.86% at 99.00.
