Portugal stocks lower at close of trade; PSI down 0.02%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials , Basic Materials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI lost 0.02%.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI: JMT ), which rose 1.72% or 0.38 points to trade at 22.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI: BCP ) added 1.34% or 0.01 points to end at 0.68 and EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI: EDP ) was up 0.43% or 0.02 points to 3.52 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI: MOTA ), which fell 3.90% or 0.18 points to trade at 4.53 at the close. Altri SGPS SA (ELI: ALSS ) declined 2.55% or 0.14 points to end at 5.36 and Semapa (ELI: SEM ) was down 1.44% or 0.26 points to 17.74.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 16 to 10 and 6 ended unchanged.

Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI: BCP ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.34% or 0.01 to 0.68.

Brent oil for August delivery was down 1.31% or 0.84 to $63.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.50% or 0.92 to hit $60.61 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 2.16% or 73.19 to trade at $3,321.31 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 99.49.
